Brandon Carr left Carman-Ainsworth High School in 2004, then spent 13 seasons playing cornerback in the NFL. Now the money he is sending back home — a $5,000 gift announced Oct. 5, 2026, through his Carr Cares Foundation — is earmarked for uniforms, equipment, and a summer skills camp for the school's girls flag football team.
"This generous donation means so much to Carman-Ainsworth Athletics and, especially, our girls flag football program," said Justin Roberson, the team's coach.
A team of their own
Carman-Ainsworth fielded its girls flag football team beginning around the 2024–25 school year, competing in the Detroit Lions' Michigan Girls High School Flag Football League — a club and pilot league that had not yet received Michigan High School Athletic Association varsity sanctioning as of the 2025–26 season.
For a club team still waiting on that sanctioning, a $5,000 check is meant to cover the basics of suiting up: the uniforms and equipment the girls need to play, and a camp to train at.
Homegrown, back home
Carr played from 2008 to 2020 for the Kansas City Chiefs, Dallas Cowboys, and Baltimore Ravens. He founded the Carr Cares Foundation in 2012; its work has included childhood-literacy and reading-center programs in Flint.
For Carman-Ainsworth's girls, the gift means uniforms to put on, equipment that is theirs, and a summer camp to train at — paid for by one of Carman-Ainsworth's own.
